History of Indian fashion

In the start of the 20's was when Indian fashion started to come into style. If woman wore nice well made clothing it showed that she was wealthy. They would buy their clothing from shops, this would been known as designer clothing. People who were less wealthy usually wore cloths that passed down from their family. They would of been handmade from their mother or even grandmother.
Each decade made better progress in designing cloths. More people started setting up their own boutiques and selling dress's and garments that were handmade. The colours on the clothing were usually dull, they would of been black and grey and the fabric would of usually been silk.
In the 40's the indian fashion completely changed. Woman started wearing long skirts that were tight on their hips and then  they wore a different fabric from their hips up.
Films were also a big part of changing fashion. People would start dressing like the actors they saw on movie screens!

This would be the type of style that was worn before more trendy cloths came out!
