wedding wear.

Indian weddings are extremely colourful, their culture doesn't follow the traditional white dress. They instead wear many different bright colours and a lot of accessories.
The dresses are altered to their liking using gems/beads.
They bride would then wear a matching veil that would be long and would have a design on it. Under the veil would be a piece of jewellery called the tikka. The tikka would go around the head and a diamond would drip down between the eyebrows. The tikka is very traditional at Indian weddings.

Indian weddings are very simple to plan, they are more about culture and relationships more then normal weddings that take months of planning.
The grooms parents give the bride a silk sari, the boy is also given cash or cloths.
The marrige is complete when the bride and groom goes around the ceremonial fire and then the groom puts toe rings on the brides toes.

How indian clothing was made

Woman would wear a long piece of clothing called a sari. They would mostly be made from cotton but some wealthy woman would buy them made from silk.
Men wore one long piece of clothing called the dhoti. The dhoti was made out of white fabric. The dhoti was made for wrapping around the legs. They are actually coming back into style again for girls!

How to wear dhoti pants
Men would then were a turban that was made out of cotton to go with the dhoti.

History of Indian fashion

In the start of the 20's was when Indian fashion started to come into style. If woman wore nice well made clothing it showed that she was wealthy. They would buy their clothing from shops, this would been known as designer clothing. People who were less wealthy usually wore cloths that passed down from their family. They would of been handmade from their mother or even grandmother.
Each decade made better progress in designing cloths. More people started setting up their own boutiques and selling dress's and garments that were handmade. The colours on the clothing were usually dull, they would of been black and grey and the fabric would of usually been silk.
In the 40's the indian fashion completely changed. Woman started wearing long skirts that were tight on their hips and then  they wore a different fabric from their hips up.
Films were also a big part of changing fashion. People would start dressing like the actors they saw on movie screens!

This would be the type of style that was worn before more trendy cloths came out!
